Yes, I am a writer.
I have been for years (see resume below). I started out as the consumer issues columnist for a daily newspaper. Later I worked as a features writer and daily deadline reporter for two Pulitzer Prize-winning newspapers. Since about 2013 I have won four international writing awards (Tabbies) for magazine stories that explore the intersection of the global textile industry with climate change and fashion.
In 2023 and 2024 on a ghost-writing assignment, I finished a 46-page book proposal for a True Crime that brought in two serious agent inquiries (after sending pitch letters to only seven) plus thoughtful notes from two other agents. This year, 2025, I was the developmental editor for a science fiction (86,000 words). The author would be happy to provide references.
Over the pandemic I discovered Hemingway. This was before Ken Burn's PBS documentary. I read a few books by Hem including a selection of short stories, but mostly, read about him and his early years as an aspiring writer in Paris. Recently I've used his writing schedule as a model and in April (2025) spent three weeks immersed in his world in the Paris Latin Quarter and Montparnasse, working on short stories, gathering information for a Novella and literally walking through the outline of a book based on Hemingway’s “The Sun Also Rises.”
Believe me, I take this seriously
I spend every morning writing in my journal watching essays and short stories take form and the rest of my day working on my book (the first of three). I am excited about that, as well as a future trip to Spain (April 2026) I have booked to further follow Hemingway's path.
You can see my corporate VITA and a few recent writing samples at www.LinkedIn/GlennaMusante/ Here, you will also see work I have done creating PR campaigns and helping companies mine the Internet with SEO strategies. Although those, too, are arrows in my quiver, I am deeply committed to writing essays, short stories, narrative nonfiction (books and feature articles), longform fiction and memoir.
Every day brings something new.
