Yes, I am a writer.
I have been for years. I started out as a journalist - a consumer issues columnist - for a daily newspaper. Later I worked as a features writer for two Pulitzer Prize-winning newspapers. Since about 2013 I've won four international writing awards (Tabbies) for magazine stories that explore the intersection of the global textile industry with climate change and fashion.
Last year on a ghost writing assignment, I finished a 46-page book proposal for a True Crime that brought in two serious agent inquiries (after sending pitch letters to seven) plus thoughtful notes from two other agents. One of my finest works.
Over the pandemic I discovered Hemingway. This was before Ken Burn's PBS documentary. I read a few books by Hem including a selection of short stories, but mostly, read several about him and his early years as an aspiring writer in Paris. Recently I've used his writing schedule as a model.
Believe me, I take this seriously.
And now, for months, I spend every morning writing for at least three hours in my journal, watching my new books take form. I'm excited about that, as well as a trip I’ve already booked to Paris to research two of the books I'm working on now.
You can see my corporate VITA and a few recent writing samples at www.LinkedIn/GlennaMusante/
Jere, you will also see work I have done creating PR campaigns and helping companies mine the Internet with SEO strategies. Although those, too, are arrows in my quiver, I’m deeply committed to writing essays, narrative nonfiction (books and longform feature articles) and memoir. You might even see poetry and fiction.
Every day brings something new.
